58 / 100 honest fit
Daniel brings strong Python, AWS, and CI/CD pipeline experience from safety-critical medical-device work, plus hands-on data pipeline and telemetry-processing background that maps to Oura's health-data domain and the data engineering growth areas of this role. The obvious gap is direct Databricks administration and Spark/data-lakehouse experience, which is the role's core responsibility — he has adjacent pipeline, cloud, and platform-reliability skills but would be ramping on the Databricks platform itself.
Tailored resume highlights
- Built and optimized backend services and validation/data pipelines for connected medical devices, ensuring reliable data delivery, telemetry processing, and system performance at scale.
- Developed Python-based automation frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines, enabling reproducible, fault-tolerant deployments and reducing deployment errors.
- Implemented AWS solutions (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) to support scalable data processing and monitoring across cloud and embedded components.
- Built cloud-enabled validation pipelines (Python + AWS + Jenkins) for device communication and telemetry processing with fault-tolerant, reproducible workflows that improved uptime.
- Led root-cause analysis of complex cross-team issues, reproducing rare defects in-house and driving resolution to stabilize systems across multiple business domains.
"Why this company?" (draft — personalize before sending)
I've spent my career in health-focused, reliability-critical software — building data and validation pipelines for connected medical devices at Medtronic, where correctness isn't optional. Oura is doing the same kind of work at consumer scale: turning health signals into insights people trust daily. That's a domain I care about and understand. This role's core — stabilizing and scaling a unified data platform, keeping pipelines reliable and reproducible — lines up directly with my Python, AWS, and CI/CD background, and I'm eager to grow into Databricks administration and deeper data engineering as the platform scales.

Dear Oura Data Engineering & Analytics team,
I'm applying for your Senior Data Engineer role focused on administering and scaling your Databricks environment. My background is a strong match for the reliability and platform-stability core of this work. At Medtronic I've built and maintained backend services and cloud-enabled data pipelines for connected medical devices, processing telemetry and ensuring reliable data delivery using Python and AWS (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB). I've integrated automation frameworks into Jenkins CI/CD to make deployments reproducible and fault-tolerant, and I regularly lead root-cause analysis of complex, cross-team issues — exactly the kind of stabilization and support work a unified data platform demands.
I'd be ramping on Databricks specifically, but I bring the data-pipeline, cloud, and platform-reliability foundation to grow into it quickly, and I'm drawn to Oura because I've spent my career in health-focused, reliability-critical software. I'd welcome the chance to help stabilize and scale your data platform.
Best regards,
Daniel Maynard
